Tony Stallard who visits NOVIAs Fine Art Department in Nykarleby during next week as guest artist and guest lecturer will give an Artist Talk and present his work. He stayed several times before in Nykarleby for artist residencies (SKV-AiR), lecturing and other artistic projects.

Tony Stallard studied, among other art institutions at Chelsea School of Art, London, H.N.D. Mural Design, Wimbledon School of Art, London, M.A. Site Specific Sculpture, Duncan of Jordanstone, College of Art, M.F.A. Public Art, Tower Hamlets College, Digital Image Manipulation. In addition to his main focus on commissioned art projects he also exhibits in different art institutions mainly in UK.

Artist statement:
From my experience with all materials available there has been a divination of the potential of light, both natural and synthetic. This has been an interaction of natural phenomena, contemporary processing of necessary media,. Alchemy of material, self-expression, poetry and the mercurial possibilities of all this.

Works are all predominantly site specific. Taking the site, space and its location as its main directive for creating new artworks. All of my works are site-specific conceptual sculptures. These sometimes involve new technologies, and design systems responding to the ‘alchemical’ properties that are inherent within the project usually involving light.

In regard to commissions I have a full working experience of 25 years with public artworks within the public realm, which have involved research and development within architectural and engineering practices for processing artworks as practical engineered concepts for Public Artwork as well as design mechanisms for collaboration with urban designers and councils for various regeneration schemes in U.K. Europe and abroad.
